I awoke a few minutes earlier than planned today here in Bulgaria. The alarm was set for 7:45, but I switched on the radio at 7:40 (5:40 BST). The announcer was speaking about Whitechapel Bell Foundry and Big Ben. He then said that Devon had the most bell towers in the country and announced that today’s ‘Bells on Sunday’ were from St Edwards Eggbuckland.
So, here I am 2000 miles from home, from all my brothers and sisters in Christ in Plymouth, and I am listening to the bells being raised: What a treat.
The really amazing thing is that Margaret and I today celebrate our 23rd anniversary…..but she travelled home yesterday, so we are apart. As she is a member of the ringing team at St Edwards, I would like to think this is a small connection for us too.
Wherever you are today, near to home or far away, I pray that you will be connected to your brothers and sisters in Christ, and will be blessed by God.
