So, we are on the Fourth Sunday in Advent, where we remember Mary’s obedience to God’s call to a very special task. We are all familiar with the many interpretations in movies and art throughout the generations of this
meeting between Gabriel and Mary – we probably each have a favourite idea of how we picture the event. But the truth is we can never really know what it must have been like for her to meet Gabriel and get the news she was to bear God’s son. But we do know from the story in Luke (Luke 1:26-55) how she receive this news: With great joy and obedience.
This week we have a lot planned at St Edwards, starting today with our Carol Service, right through until our Christmas morning All-Age Communion Service:
20th – Carols by Candlelight 6.30pm
24th – Messy Crib Services (2.30pm or 3.30pm)
24th – Midnight Communion 11.30pm
25th – All-Age Communion 10.30am
Why not come along and hear something of the Good News this Christmas as we celebrate the Birth of this child – and learn something of the great joy that is shared with our own obedience to him.
