Two amazing things happened today, well actually 6: four baptisms, a toilet and a kitchen.
It is a rare sight to see in most Anglican churches, but this morning we had a birthing pool. Actually this birthing pool might be better described as a re-birthing pool as it was used to baptise various of our brothers and sisters. As you can see, three opted for full immersion which is may have as much to do with the unusually warm weather of May – not sure they would have been so keen in January.
I think we can re-assure those present that opted for wearing swimming googles that it will in no way annul the vows and promises made!
Welcome to the family – Connie, George, Jules and Alan.
The other water feature we have added, is our new toilet. After 586 years of waiting to spend a penny you now have access to facilities inside church. No more hunting for the key and running across to the hall during a dull sermon! Obviously, there is a lock on the door so we would suggest not whistling too loud when occupied….unless singling along to ‘Our God Reigns’.
Apart from the toilet, we also have the new kitchen area which is a huge improvement on its predecessor. John appears to be settling well into his new surroundings, and I am sure the coffee and cake taste just as good as ever. (We decided you would prefer to see John in the kitchen than in the toilet!)
This is a really special day for all of us at St Edwards, and we give thanks to God for his rich blessings.
