Sue Ward, Margaret Hall, and a number of other child-minders in Plymouth have been fund-raising to support a nursery in Pernik Bulgaria. Having raised in excess of £200 through collections and events, they have been able to purchase a number of much needed resources for the children and their teachers.
The state-run nursery has 15 children aged 1-3 years, with 3 staff. Finances are severely limited, but the children enjoy playing and learning together.
Sue was able to visit the nursery last October. Much moved by the limited resources she decided to organise a raffle at St Budeaux in Plymouth. Further monies were raised at the annual Christmas nativity organised by the Plymouth child-minders.
Margaret has been working with and supporting the nursery for three years, so was pleased to be able to deliver these resources to them. Chalk boards and easels, wooden train sets, and art equipment were delivered at Christmas. This week she was able to take further supplies of Duplo bricks and play-dough materials.
