Baptism (sometimes known as ‘Christening’)

Baptism (or Christening) Services

Baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God which continues for the rest of our lives. This first step is a response to God’s love. It is also a celebration, a time to come together with family and friends; remembering that your child is loved by God, is part of a wider community and has a place with God’s people.

Our Baptism services happen on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 11am in most months of the year and there can be up to three other families taking part as well as members of our wider church family. The service is accessible for the younger members of the family as well as those less familiar with church services. For more general information about the aspects of a Baptism service please see the link to the Church of England’s main website

In order to help you and your Godparents prepare for this we have a ‘Baptism Explored’ session where your questions can be answered and there is an opportunity to explore further what Baptism is all about as well as whether is this the right service for your family (we also offer another service called ‘Thanksgiving’ which is an opportunity to celebrate the birth and naming of your child without the promises that Baptism requires) . This happens every month (apart from August) and is part of our monthly 11 O’Clock service in the Church Hall.

We would love for you to continue to join with us as you help your child explore faith and inform you of the various opportunities that we have to help you with this.
