Friday: Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil,
Today is our final day of these special blog posts for ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ – only a few days to Pentecost!
We hope you have found them helpful and might be able to join us or a church near you for this special day.
The Lord’s prayer teaches about the sort of God we are praying to and the sort of things to ask him for. Despite the fact that we might want to follow Jesus and we know how much Jesus has done for us it can be hard to keep doing what he wants – to keep listening to God’s voice.
However God wants us to ask for his help to do this too.
When Jesus rose from the dead he was with his friends for a while. But then he went to heaven so that he could send God the Holy Spirit to be with his friends on earth. God the Holy spirit wants to help us listen to God’s voice better. He did this at Pentecost and he is with the church and all Christian people today
This last line
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil,
…is asking God – the Holy spirit to help us when we are tempted to listen to wrong voices and keep us away from harmful things.
Today we can ask for his help to listen to God’s voice
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
