May Magazine – Minister’s message

One family in Christ...for all the family: Loving, Serving, Growing

Dear Friends,
With Easter and our Annual Meetings behind us we move rapidly towards the “Thy Kingdom Come” events which focus on hosting a Prayer Space in Eggbuckland again and we are also hoping there might be one in Derriford (led by Rev. Keith and the Rock Community Team) as well as one at Estover at Christ Church. Those that used these last year found them very helpful and in special ways encountered God’s presence with them. The prayer rooms will be open from early morning to late at night so do make the time to go along, pray and be part of this significant movement as tens of thousands across the world pray “Thy Kingdom Come”.
This week ends with a special weekend (7-9th June) called ‘Love South West’ which begins on Friday evening at the Plymouth Pavilions hosted by among others, Rev. Olly Ryder and the team from St Matthias, Plymouth. If you would like to come please do contact me as I have some reduced price tickets. On Saturday we will be doing a litter pick in the Eggbuckland Village & Frogmore field area and maybe some other activities too – all things to show the community that we love them … because God loves them.
On Sunday, bring a friend along to St Edward’s to ’Try Church’ – we will work really hard to make this the best 9.30 service we possibly can. As with the Saturday ‘Love Eggbuckland’ day, it will only work if you support it, pray for it and invite people to get involved – please do be praying about who you might bring.
But don’t panic! There are lots of opportunities to practice inviting people during May/June as we have Sound House Brass on the 3rd May 7.30pm which promises to be an excellent evening of exciting music from this respected local brass band – and a bargain at only £5 – tickets available at church or online from our website. Also, on the Sunday of that weekend (5th May) Dr Sean Sweeney will be with us for the service to play the organ for us and to do a free demonstration (mini concert) at 11am and then at the beginning of June (1st June 2-4pm) we hope to have our annual summer fete (building work dependant!) – All great community events and perfect for inviting your friends, neighbours and family to.
I pray that this May, as we prepare for ‘Thy Kingdom come’ we may be growing in prayerfulness and daily dependence upon Christ by His Holy Spirit.
With every blessing
